Charnwood Sileby 2 Match Report

 

 

Saturday 4th October – Grantham 2

 

  Charnwood Sileby opened the scoring within the first minute through captain Ali Goodger’s reverse stick shot. A second goal followed straight after, this time it was Sian Murray who slotted home the rebound after Ali G’s shot hit the post. The third goal came from a set piece, Ali Goodger’s well-struck penalty corner proving too good for the Grantham keeper. The fourth goal was a first league goal for Alex Fisher who pounced to score when the keeper saved an initial shot. The fifth goal was scored by Kaz Setchell who was given time and space in the box before unleashing a powerful shot past the keeper. The first half was wrapped up with a brilliant piece of vision and positioning by two players. Ali Goodger took a quick free hit from the half way line and found Sian Murray, who had made a great run into the area, unmarked and Sian finished in style hitting the ball first time past the keeper.

Grantham were determined to find a way back into this match and enjoyed some good spells of possession in the second half but it wasn’t enough to stop a goal hungry Charnwood Sileby from scoring a further four goals without reply. The team’s seventh goal wrapped up a hat trick for Ali Goodger. This was her finest goal of the match as she dribbled by numerous opposition players before slotting the ball past the keeper. Amy Lang scored her first club goal as she found herself with time and space to drive the ball past the keeper for the team’s eighth goal. Goal nine was scored by Vicky Moore who finished off some good build up play by the Charnwood Sileby players. The final goal probably got the biggest cheer of the game as Sian Murray, on her birthday, completed a fantastic hat trick. This time she pounced to score after an initial cross-area shot was saved by the keeper.
