Charnwood Sileby 2 Match Report
Saturday 8th September – Towcester 2 (A)
Charnwood Sileby 2 got their pre season off to a good start in a highly entertaining match against a strong Towcester side.
Towcester started brightly and were rewarded with an early goal. Despite this initial set back Charnwood Sileby began to get themselves into the match with flowing passing and an excellent work rate. Just before half time Charnwood Sileby’s effort was rewarded with a penalty corner. Cath hit the ball to Ali G who’s well struck shot rebounded back to her and this time her shot found the back of the net.
Half time: 1-1
After some words of encouragement and the equalizer just before half time, Charnwood Sileby came out for the second half full of confidence. They played the ball around well and, through good build up play, took the lead. Ali G put a good ball towards the corner of the goal where Ali E was on hand to slot the ball in. Towcester were now chasing the game and began to gain more possession as they pressed players forward in search of an equalizer. Their efforts were rewarded midway through the half as they scored their second goal. Towcester looked good on the counter attack but frequently good work from the Charnwood Sileby defence and stand-in goalkeeper ensured the score line stayed at 2-2. Overall it was a fine performance from the whole team and this gives them an excellent base to work from.
