Charnwood Sileby 2 Match Report

Saturday 8^th December – Melton 2 (a)

  Charnwood Sileby returned to winning ways with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Melton.

  The match started tentatively as both teams battled with the freezing temperatures and continuous rainfall. Sileby were beginning to find their feet and were starting to pass the ball well as they looked to find an early goal. The Melton defence were in a stubborn mood and it took something special to open the scoring. Sileby were awarded a free hit which Kaz Setchell took quickly. Her pass found Carol Allenby who struck the ball first time past the keeper.

  Charnwood Sileby continued to apply pressure in the second half and were creating plenty of goal scoring chances, however they were continually denied a goal by some brave Melton defending. With time running out and the score line at 1-0 there was always the threat of a Melton counter attack but Sileby’s defence and goalkeeper were up to the task and made sure of the clean sheet and the victory.
