Charnwood Sileby 1st's Saturday 2nd February Charnwood travelled North to Burton on Saturday in the hope that they would come away with a win and 3 points. This was always going to be a physical game and Charnwood were well prepared for the battle. Player of the match Liz Tabram had a great game as a goalkeeper making sure that the few shots they had at goal were kept out. Sharon McGuken scored a great deflection goal in the first half only to have it disallowed as the umpire believed she was just outside the circle. Annie Wiffen won a well deserved short corner that was flicked over the keeper by Sharon Webster. During the second half Rebecca Smith had a shot saved off the line but Charnwood kept up the pressure and were determined to score again even though decisions were just not going there way. Burton had over 12 short corners but the Charnwood defence was solid and made sure no goals were to be conceded. A quick break from Linzi Webster led to a free hit just outside the circle. Sue Simspon drilled the ball into the circle and Rebecca Smith edged the ball into the goal. The final score was 2-0 a well deserved win in difficult game.
