Match Report Saturday 10^th November 

Charnwood vs Leighton Buzzard 

  With a slight changes to the team due to injury and game tactics Charnwood started the game against league leaders Leighton confidently but Leighton soon forced Charnwood into a defensive position as they pilled on the pressure. The solid defensive line up of Sharon, Amy, Deb and Liz contained the pressure and soon put Charnwood back into an attacking position. With swift passing through the middle Annie Wiffen drove skilfully into the circle forcing a short corner. Unfortunately this short corner along with the others in this half didn’t result in a goal.

  Leighton continued to pressurise Charnwood and just before half time Leighton scored from a lucky deflection sending the ball looping in the air and out of reach of Lorraine in goal.

  In the second half great vision and determination kept Leighton pinned in their own half and under immense pressure. Player of the match Georgie put a quick ball up the right wing to Annie who played a great ball through to Sharon McGuken forcing the seventh short corner of the game. With a short pass to the left of the circle Sharon Webster struck a powerful ball which careered through the keepers legs. The final score of this fast and intense game 1-1. Charnwood were unlucky not to win this one as they definitely had the most opportunities.
