Charnwood Sileby 2 Match Report

Saturday 24th November – Loughborough University 5 (A)

Last Saturday Charnwood Sileby traveled to league leaders Loughborough University.

The match started at a high tempo with both teams passing the ball skillfully around the pitch and enjoying early spells of possession. Both teams were getting a feel for the others formations and tactics and chances were being created at both ends. Unfortunately Charnwood Sileby lost a player to illness early in the half but the remaining players battled on. The defence looked solid and dealt with everything the opposition attackers could throw at them. The midfield were working hard to support the defence whilst creating attacking plays and the forwards were lively and proving a handful for the opposition defence.  The first half proved to be very tight and neither side could find the opening goal as the teams went into half time with scores level.

Half Time 0-0

After some words of encouragement at half time, Charnwood Sileby came out believing they could get something from this match. The game continued at a high tempo with both teams looking to create the opening that could lead to the first goal. It was the home side that took the lead with an unstoppable shot. The away team didn’t let their heads drop and continued to press in search of an equalizer. They were rewarded with only five minutes remaining when young Isabelle Perry found herself in the perfect position and turned the ball past the keeper. It was no more than Charnwood Sileby deserved and they were certainly the happier team when the final whistle drew the match to a close. A fantastic effort by the whole team and thank you to all the supporters who braved the cold to cheer on the team.
