For some time there has been a need to provide information about coaching, mostly on coaching players. At the moment, you should discuss coaching opportunities with the Chairman of Coaching for the Midlands, Caroline Frye  on 0121-704 3280 or E-mail: carolinefrye@blueyonder.co.uk.

  There may be DVDs or some other means available to improve your knowledge and skills, which will vary from person to person. Coaching Courses will be shown on the Development, Courses page. Coaching of umpires will be dealt with in the Umpires section.

 The Midlands Coaching Newsletter - November edition was sent to all coaches on the Midlands Database, so if you haven’t already received it and want to, then contact the Midlands Office, midlands@englandhockey.org  with your details and they will add you to the mailing list.

BURSARY for L1 and L2 coaching awards  

  For several years LRHA have held a small fund to assist applicants towards costs - at present £50 towards L1 and £100 for L2. There is still a small fund left for allocation. 

England Hockey Board have just supplied dates for 2010 and there is to be a L2 Fast track course on 22/2 + 1/3/10 at Lichfield Hockey Club – applicants considered who completed L1 prior to 2005, or have relevant proven experience. Further details for this and all courses is available from EHB Midland Office midlands@englandhockey.org

Level One - LEVEL 1 VRQ COACHING ASSISTANT AWARD

The Level 1 Award is intended to provide the essential skills and knowledge necessary to run a safe and enjoyable session for players to be introduced to hockey. Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old to attend the course but should understand that they will not be permitted to coach independently.  Level 1 coaches aged 18 and over can obtain insurance and practice in the role of Coaching Assistant alongside a fully qualified adult holding a Level 2 coach award or above.

A level 1 VRQ coaching assistant award is taking place:
