Introduction :The LRHA used to support a Hockey Development Manager, but in anticipation of funding running out in 2007, a meeting was held on 16th June 2005 at which a Hockey Development Group (HDG) was formed. After a shaky start the group has organized a one stop Junior event schedule, enabling new clubs to identify dates which clash with other events and has successfully completed a two site junior development camp for boys and girls of U13 with over 70 young people attending for 8 weeks of training. The group meets 5 times a year and its representatives include local teams with junior sections, umpires, schoolgirls and boys hockey rep’s, local authority development officers and a representative from the LRHA Executive.Direct assistance can be offered to clubs in a co-ordinated way for initiatives such as junior or club development plans, funding applications often using Active Sports Partnership, the development of coaches, officials and volunteers and in developing school-club links. There is a strong and developing partnership now between English Hockey, Active Sports, Local Councils and other bodies, and the Coaching Centres provide many opportunities to learn and develop new hockey skills under the guidance of qualified coaches and officials. If you would like to discuss ANY development issues, please contact the address details below.
