County Page :
INTRODUCTION: The County run A, U21 and Vets (over 35yrs) teams managed by dedicated managers. You don’t have to be brilliant to try out for county because if you have the potential we have the knowledge to bring out the best in you. The county squads also have a very active social life especially when we play away. Still interested then read on? Our teams play at least once a month and play other counties home and away eg; Yorkshire, Humberside, Oxford, Northampton and hopefully, this coming season, Lincolnshire, Sussex and Cornwall could be a possibility!
TRAINING: If you would like to come and meet us, we normally train at Soar Valley Leisure Centre, Kingfisher Rd (end of Speedwell Rd), Mountsorrel on Wednesday’s from 7.00pm - 8-00pm or 8.00 - 9.00pm - click for a larger scale Location Map if you need it, or Mountsorrel's Weds Nights Fixtures to find out which nights are scheduled for County training. White socks & shirt and coloured socks & shirt are normally required. What we do: 1) Warm up 2) Skills 3) Short games - coaching during the games 4) Review County potential and advise attendees accordingly - even to channel them to club coaching.
If you feel this is just what you are looking for, or you have someone in your team with the potential to benefit from County experience, then please contact Nancy on 01509-558658 or by e mail. Everyone is welcome.
THE STANDARD EXPECTED FROM PLAYERS: Must: Have reasonable skills, be an average to better player, be reasonably fit and have a good knowledge of the game. Want to be a County Player and be dedicated and committed to being a County Player! Want to improve and be prepared to learn within the team. Be a regular and prompt attender at County training - if training is not for you, or beneath your dignity, then forget it! Be very sociable. A good attitude is essential - to just arrive, play, shower and go home is absolutely no good! Arrive with smile, play hard with good team approach and entertain the opposition i.e. chat before & after the game and stay for a social drink, even water is a must - and just 10 minutes after a game is not enough! Support our other teams on match day where fixture times make it possible.
What can the County offer you? Good question. With enhanced skills and team performance we can put you forward for selection to the England Squad - sound good?
