Cup -Preliminary - Saturday September 9th 2006

Market Harborough A 4 Rangers 1

Harborough’s A team found themselves one step closer to cup success last Saturday.  The score finally ended 4-1 as Harborough gave Rangers a pounding in the first cup game of the season.  The Game saw young Lauren Turner stepping out for her Harborough debut and proving that she is a valuable asset to he club as she ran rings around the Rangers defence.  Saturdays match also welcomed back another star, Neil James.  Four years after his last game for Harborough Neil put in a strong performance and amazed spectators with his endless energy and complicated balls skills.

The first goal came from Paul Moorhouse on a high speed attack resulting from a perfect save by keeper Baz.  A second goal from Tim Chapman followed making it 2-0 at half time.

The second half saw Rangers wake up and Harborough relax, taking the score to 2-1.  Determined not to give it up, Harborough finally found its rhythm again and one shot from Bobby Read gave the home team a two goal lead.
It was all or nothing from the outsiders but a feisty run from James Thorpe in the final countdown of the game, gave Tim Chapman just enough time to seal the victory for the A’s.

The only way is up for the A’s as they start their league campaign and captain Rob Smith is feeling optimistic for the season.
