Introduction :

What Is In Mixed Hockey For Me?
There are 46 teams in the "Mixed" Section of the new Leicestershire & Rutland Hockey Association (LRHA) this year containing more than 800 registered players, although with managers, coaches, trainers and umpires, the total number involved is much higher. Teams are arranged into 4 league divisions and matches are played on Saturdays within the City of Leicester and across Leicestershire and Rutland from East Leake, Loughborough and Uppingham to Market Harborough, Earl Shilton and Ashby. In addition to league, cup and 7-a-side matches, some teams also enter other competitions, friendly tournaments and other events within the county, around the country and even abroad.

The "mixed" has one of the largest County squads, containing A, B, Under 21 and Veterans teams and probably have the most successful County record over more than 50 years. County matches are played about once a month on a Sunday, so players' opportunities for playing hockey are enormous.
If you are interested in playing or umpiring mixed hockey, then please use the Information page to find out much more about us. Details of secretaries, clubs, pitch locations etc. are all there.
If you've put a team together and you want to try some friendly games, then phone Mick, the fixtures secretary on 0116-2743587 and he will arrange matches straight away (especially if you already have a pitch and a slot!). He will also fit you up with competition of the appropriate skill to suit your new team.

"Is it worth it, what's at the end of it?" you may ask. Well as well as having loads of fun and developing good team work and team spirit, have a look at a few pictures from the Presentation Dance held in May 2000 to get an idea of the cups, shields, trophies and medals which can also come to a successful squad. Good luck.
