MASTERS O50 CUP
Round 1
10.11.13
Worcester 3 (0) v Charnwood Mountsorrel 1 (0)
A depleted Charnwood
Mountsorrel could only field 10-men against a well-drilled Worcester side who were able to dominate
large periods of the game. The visitors
were under sustained pressure, but the defence was well-marshalled by Tony Kirk
and Charnwood kept a clean sheet in the first period. With only an injured Mark Taylor to play
up-front, the chances for Charnwood were few and far between.
The deadlock was
broken shortly after half-time, when a goalmouth scramble resulted in a close
range finish for the home attacker. Worcester twice extended
their lead as they dominated possession, but Charnwood fought all the way and
debutant Greg Marshall scored the game’s final goal in the closing minutes
